There are some IDEAS present that are gory, but they are really just tantamount to some spoken detail with very small clips to help sell the point. Brilliant start to a great series of horror films which have become legendary due to the ingenious "games" giving impossible choices to unwitting victims.

The first thirty minutes are sublime better than and scarier then anything else in recent memory.

This film included disembowelment, chest carving, stabbing, choking, shooting, fist thrown...the works. Certainly not for the faint-hearted! In Wes Craven's film "Last House on the Left" two teenage girls are kidnapped, taken into woods nearby one of them's house, and tortured literally to death.

People who have dark secrets that bring them into confrontation with "Jigsaw", and that's not something you want!

I saw this original Saw film years and years ago and then saw one of the sequels and thought I would get the whole set of films and watch them properly in order. Holy crap: there really is a reason this thing became so big. Jamie must seek out Melinda in this new world.

As Lawrence crawls out of the room to try and find help, Adam searches Zep's body for a key and finds another tape, which reveals that Zep was another victim following rules to obtain an antidote for a slow-acting poison he was given. It dropped to number four, making $11 … Zep enters the bathroom to kill Lawrence according to "the rules", but Adam, having survived, bludgeons Zep to death with the toilet tank lid.
