There was as story here at some point, but instead it just devolves into gore and incomprehensible screaming at everything. One of the best horror films I've seen and it's British to boot! Unfortunately it fails to deliver on its promises of a compelling story. A cave-in traps them with no way to retrace their steps, but don't yet know that a terrible fate lurks around the tunnel's next bend. And that is an achievement.

The movie's dark, claustrophobic look adds realism to the ghastly dangers that the young women face and the music score is effective.
While that scene is also in the original, the scene that would follow afterward makes things a bit more clear (ironically, given that it gives us less answers), and at least keeps the scene in context with the rest of the film. The compound fracture one of them suffers is rather hard for the squeamish to see, and it is graphic.

If ever caught in this situation, just remember cave creatures just want some peace and quiet and you are the ones who intruded on them. Good movie, but unfortunately, this is the American cut.

The mines flooded killing hundreds if not thousands of people and destroying the mining, people left but the story goes some people retreated further into the mines as the area of Cannock has the largest deer population in England which would be a sustainable food source for people and other animals.
Well made horror film and I don't think there are many.
